*Thanks for the feedback and the news.Its very good to know that PS3 is already here but two consoles aren’t really much and each selling for 75,000! its very very expenisve, indeed much more than i expected,its amazing that they reached here even with the extreme shortages Sony is facing in America and Japan, i bet someone brought them indiviually.
*well im not sure about the modchip thing because i think modchips are not only required to run games of different regions but also to remove security(maybe for pirated games.
*About Blu-ray i think you are correct to some extent ,because Blu-ray movies are fancied because of 1080p support but the truth is that difference between and 720p is very less(when you will see 720 and 1080 running ,you will see that for yourself),where 720p movies are also available on DVD,but main problem for HD gaming in Pakistan is the high price of HD-TVs ,without these TVs HD resolutions of 1080p and 720p are not possible .
The best solution i think is to buy a small widescreen LCD such as ViewSonic VA1912w(http://galaxy.com.pk/online-store/lcd.htm),which offers numerous benefits such as widescreen,DVI support at such a good cost! and also a S-video or component wire for PS3 would be necessary which are easily available from 3rd party companies or Sony itself.

I’ve got both. As you know there was a shortage in the U.S. And I have heard rumors that at one point they were selling for more than 10000 DOLLARS. My friend and I bought a few ranging from 550 for the 20 gb to 1000 for the 60 gb from electronic stores and ebay.

xbox 360 is Rs 25,000 here too in Karachi,though used ones are less expensive,i recommend you to buy a new one and since the price is same in Karachi and Peshawar ,buy it from Peshawar then.

PS3 is above 50,000 mark here so no chance for now, it will take some time to get the price down most probably like next summer 07,but i can only guess.

Well, it seems that the duty for any new electronic item is 25 % of invoice value + 15 % sales tax + 6 % income tax (according to UPS). As of this point the average cost of a PS3 is 850 on ebay (for the 60 gig version). Although it retails for 599$ in the U.S., it is virtually impossible to find because only 400,000 were released.
Since, even the giant electronic chains here have very limited quanities, it is hard to imagine anyone exporting in bulk to Pakistan, or any other country for that matter. Not to mention shipping restrictions that are probably placed on the PS3s. Any PS3 sent via DHL or UPS will cost approximately 350$. That would make the average cost of sending one the conventional way approximately 1,550$.
So the only way they are probably being sent is people bringing them individually (which is what I will do if I send it). That would put the cost approximately 1,000$ (60,000 rs) if duty was not imposed and 1,300$ (78,000 rs)if it were imposed. we are still talking about he 60 gig version of course.

dude I think you didnt made a visit to electronics market for a long time, PS3 is for 40k in market and by end of April we will come up with the mod chip aswell so guyz lace up your shoe’s couz this PS3 wil cost for just 30k to 36k in June as far as the games are concern they will cost Rs 300 to 500 though that cost… but what if you are playing 2nd gen games for just couple of hundreds.. I think no big deal ..

the ps3 being readily available in the market and at the same cost as it is in japan and the u.s. sounds too good to be true. sony had issues delivering their target to the u.s. and canada because manufacturing the chip at this point takes a while.

here is the good news and the bad news for all of us… good news is that PS3 would be ready to rock the market by June 2006 with modchip for just 32K ( depreciation as per market reviews as it is in market for just 37K right now..
) and you all are planning to sell it and buy PS3 for a little financial backup …sell it right now if it is in warranty you can sell it around 6000 & without warranty its around 5500 to 5000 but once PS3 with modchip in market you won be able to sell it for more then 3000…so this is your call ..
Bad news is that BlueRay disk would cost 800 to 1500 once it will be available so if you want to buy cheeper wait till Dec 2007

Most probably modchips will not be available seperately , and i really don’t know how they mod it , but once that modchip arrives soon you will see guides for setting it up on internet soon.

The price of PS3(60GB wifi) is 36,000 RS , future of modchip can’t be predicted because of regular firmware updates by Sony .

If u want to play video games with full pleasure then always play on good PC. If u have good machine then u will be happy whenever u will play ur favorite game. But unfortunately 95% people don’t know which machine is good for their requirements.
Computer Hardware Market in Pakistan has many problems. Whenever a new person who doesn’t have idea about Pakistani Market wants to purchase a new PC or used PC he always is cheated by the shopkeeper. Shopkeeper always gives third class hardware but get good price. This is the main problem here in Pakistan and everyone has experienced this. Here is a very simple guide for purchasing a new PC or Old branded PC for u if u wants to play new best games of 2007 like crisis, call for duty, oragebox, dirt and bioshock.
CPU: 2.6-3.00 GHz
Dual Core is very good if u have no financial problem, otherwise Pentium 4 of this configuration is also best solution.
But always remember never purchase Celeron like 2.6 or 3.00 GHz. Many people don’t know about this and always be cheated in market.
Motherboard: D945 in intel series is a good board for normal Pentium 4 series and if u want to purchase Dual Core then always purchase D946GZISL
Ram: 1 Gb (Kingston) .if u have no financial problem then Corsair gaming memory is the best Ram for playing pc video games.
Hard drive: 80 Gb (Always purchase Seagate)
Graphic Card:GeFORCE 7300 Series is the best graphic card and it is also not very expensive
Note: when u use GeFORCE 7300 or like this series then u have to purchase a good Power Supply, because this type of graphic cards need more extra power, otherwise they will make trouble.
Note: if u want to play only video games on ur PC then use only Fat 32 during installation. Formatting with NTFS sometimes has problems.
